There are no shortcuts: what really works takes time
30-day challenges, extreme diets and miracle treatments. Why what really works takes time, and how to surround yourself with sensible professionals.

30-day challenges. Abs in a month. Ten kilos lighter in three months. You’ve surely seen these promises a thousand times, and I’ll tell you straight: it’s all a lie.
Shortcuts don’t lead you to health. They take you in exactly the opposite direction: extreme diets, workouts you can’t keep up, miracle products and, in the end, an exhausted body and the feeling that you’ve failed yet again.
What’s worth it takes time
I’ve been training my whole life, and I’ve tried everything: strength, flexibility, cardio, HIIT. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that what’s truly worth it takes time. A lot of it.
You spend your whole life trying to get to know yourself and you never quite finish. The body is the same: at first you progress quickly, but the closer you get to your goal, the slower everything goes. Sometimes you even take a step back, change direction and start again.
You’ll never be on the perfect path, because the perfect path doesn’t exist. What matters is to make the most of where you are right now and keep going.
Surround yourself with sensible doctors
The most important thing is to surround yourself with professionals who don’t sell you smoke and mirrors. Doctors who want the same as you: health, a natural result and what is genuinely effective today, not empty talk, machines that don’t work or treatments that still have no evidence behind them.
You are not a guinea pig. Look for prudent doctors, the ones who have spent a lifetime testing and always come back to what works. They don’t change their minds with every trend, and that isn’t old-fashioned: it’s smart.
Those professionals look out for your health and for their own. They don’t put you at risk with something that hasn’t been proven in the long term, and they don’t experiment on you for money. Those are the people who are really worth it.
My experience
I’ve been in the hands of all kinds, and I can tell you from experience: I’ve always come out badly burned by the ones who weren’t sensible. And I’m not only talking about doctors, but also other professionals I’ve worked with.
Of all the ones I’ve met, I’ve kept three or four. They’re the ones I still look after today, because they’re the ones who are truly worth it.
We all make mistakes, and I’m the first, from wanting to improve and improve without stopping. But over the years I’ve realised that the sensible thing is to stay with those who protect your health.
Get informed and learn to tell the difference
Be careful with everything you’re promised. You’re smart: get informed. There are countless books and a huge amount of information, and among so many lies there is also plenty of evidence.
The key is knowing how to tell the difference, knowing where to look and making the most of the tools we have today, and there are many.
